Jas's 2010 Polar Bear Dip - Watch Video & Pictures

A friend calls me and says "Jas you're going to do the Polar Bear Dip".  I say "What?!"

He says it is for a good cause, so I say "YES"!  After hanging up, I'm thinking, "at 38 have I gone crazy!"

Needless to say, not knowing what to expect, Jan 1st, turned out to be a party in the cold!  A Dhol group joined us, and we Bhangra'd before the dip.  Around 500 participants and family members were kept warm and entertained to the beat of the drums as we all entered to make the frigid plunge.

How cold was it?  Well the water was near 0C and the temperature hovered at freezing.  Jaspreet and the kids kept me company and upbeat!

As of this moment, the Khalsa Kanucks have raised nearly $3000 for Habitat for Humanity.  With your help Jas,  "the great one", was able to raise nearly $1000.  I'm extremely thankful for all the donations and support I've received.  More importantly the Khalsa Kanucks, helped the organizers reach and exceed their sponsorship goal.

Habitat for Humanity will be able to get 3 foundations poured with the money they collected to build a home and give a "hands up" and not a "hand out" to a family in need.  I'm hoping to raise more and looking forward to reaching my goal of $1500.  I've taken the plunge the proof is below.

Khalsa Kanucks to ring in the New Year with The Polar Bear Dip wearing Hockey Jerseys!

For Immediate Release:  Dec 30, 2009

Khalsa Kanucks to ring in the New Year with The Polar Bear Dip

The Khalsa Kanucks will be participating with Toronto Polar Bear Club for the “Dip of the Decade”  in Lake Ontario at Sunny Side Park in Toronto, on January 1, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.

The Khalsa Kanucks, a chilly freezing icy frosty bitter wintry frozen artic sub zero glacial type of Singhs, featuring the likes of  Pardeep Singhy Dipping Nagra, Jas Tunda Singh Jagpal and Frosty Gurmit The Singh Man are also helping to support a great cause and have raised over $1500 for Habitat for Humanity Toronto to give “a hand up not a hand out” to families in need.

Scarborough's own Jas "Tunda Singh" Jagpal  says he is not patenting his ice cold water scream, but rather practicing his Jakara, (war cry) and expects to have a lot of fun.  It’s fun albeit crazy at 38, but a great and freezing way for a Realtor, who sells homes to support a cause to help build them.

Kulbir Ice Cold Singh Dhillon says he is excited to start crossing off one of his New Year’s resolutions and starting off the new year with a splash. He thinks that it will be a “walk in the park”, better yet he says a “dip in the park”!

Ranarakhbir”rrrrrrr” The Polar Bear Singh Bassi likens the Dip to Hemkunt Sahib and has heard that people who participate are full of energy for the rest of the week and maybe the year.

Not to be left out, Kulvir Bitter Singh Gill is hoping Global Warming is for real, and that it will take a hold on January 1, 2010 and expects it to be a hot and humid 30 degrees.

The Dhol circle will be join us with at least 8-10 Dholi's  all wearing Maple Leaf Jerseys.  The 10 who will take the dip will wear different Canadian jerseys.  Go Khalsa Kanucks go!
